Getting a massage:
You may disrobe to the level of your comfort.
The less tense you are, the better I can do my job. If you are more comfortable leaving your undergarments on, then I respect that and will work around it. When you leave your undergarments on, I view that as a boundary. If you need work in your hips, but keep your underwear on, you will need to inform me that you still need work in an area you are covering. If you would rather stay fully clothed, maybe a Polarity or Cranialsacral session is more your speed.
If you could shower before session, that is appreciated, or at least not arrive after a 10K race.
I am more focused on the massage when I am not engaged in conversation. The more focused I am, the better my work. Of course, you can give feedback to pressure or anything that is related to the session, but if you can drop into the silence behind the busyness of the mind you will find the nervous system becomes more settled.
Try not to eat a big meal before our session. If blood sugar levels are a concern, then consider a small portion of easily digestible food.
Give yourself enough time before and after session. If you feel rushed to session, it may take you awhile to settle and unwind. If you are running to another appointment after our session, you may find it more difficult to relax during session or the calming effects from our time together might quickly dissipate.
Brand new to massage? I only undrape the body part in which I intend to work. The draping is a boundary designed for your safety and comfort. (If you become warm on the table, better to inform me instead of throwing off the sheet.)
After a brief in-take about your concerns, we agree on a “game-plan” for your session and I will step out of the room to give you a moment to disrobe and get on the table under the sheets. Ideally, you will be completely under the sheets, including your arms. From this neutral position, I can begin undraping as needed.
I begin most massages prone, with your face in the face cradle. When it is time to turn over, I will lift the sheet to give you privacy while you move to the supine position and then re-drape.
When session has completed, I will step out of the room and you have the privacy to get dressed.

CANCELLATION POLICY: While I understand that emergencies happen, I reserve my time for YOU to assist you on your healing journey.
The type of work I perform is personal, intimate and requires a lot of energy. If we have worked together before, I might contemplate an appropriate session for you. The session really begins when you make the appointment.
For that reason, I must ask for ½ of the payment at the time of booking.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, you forfeit that deposit.
If you give me more than 24 hours’ notice, then I am happy to refund the deposit to you or apply it to a future session within 30 days of original appointment. You may only reschedule that appointment ONE time. (Example: if you book on October 1 and you reschedule for October 20, and then must reschedule again for October 30, you will have forfeited the deposit and would have to pay a new deposit for the October 30th session).
As a small business owner, I must have these types of boundaries in place. Boundaries are very important for the work that I do because my job is to create safety for my clients, allowing each individual to open up and process any tension, tightness, trauma, or emotional wound your body is carrying. This is deep and often spiritual work and to be treated with respect.
You demonstrate that respect for me by showing up on time or giving me at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellation.
Swedish Massage
Using long, flowing strokes to encourage relaxation and integration of mind and body. Utilizing a variety of modalities and light to firm pressure to accomplish your goals, this style of massage is the most popular and familiar to people.
Deep-Tissue Massage
This is *focused work.” The IPSB approach to deep tissue is not to be confused with firm pressure given during a full-body massage. Deep Tissue honors where the body is at. Much like a door that has been deadbolted, YOU will have to unlock the deadbolt to let me inside. I will only go as deep as your body allows me. This is appropriate for recovery from injury, chronic holding, tension or pain, where I might focus on one area to massage. The idea is to re-educate the muscle tissue without adding trauma to tissue already traumatized.
CranioSacral Therapy
This modality is performed with the client fully clothed (think yoga pants or sweatpants and T-shirts. No belts) There are classical “holds” in Cranial Work and there are intuitive holds that I do in my private practice. While this work is very gentle, it is extremely powerful as my own experience of it after a head-on car collision was entirely beneficial for my healing process.
Polarity Therapy
This modality is performed with the client fully clothed (think yoga pants and t-shirts. no belts). These sessions start with an oral intake to best determine where the client is out of balance. From there, I determine how best to bring the client into balance through specific protocols (body rocking, soft tissue release, gentle holds) based on the elements of: earth, water, fire, air and ether. In these sessions, we really work together to best strategize optimal healing — and I may “assign homework” to further your healing and integration of our time together.
You demonstrate that respect for me by showing up on time or giving me at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellation.
